Fair Trade Fashion
Epona is one of the first UK companies to make clothing using fairtrade certified cotton.
The FAIRTRADE Mark guarantees that cotton producers are given:
- A fair and stable price, set by the Fairtrade Foundation
- A Fairtrade Premium to invest in social and environmental projects
- The means to develop sustainable methods of farming avoiding pesticide use
- The opportunity to work with other farmers in democratic co-operatives
Their products are aimed at a fashion-conscious generation that demands style, quality and value, but who also want to ensure their clothing has been ethically produced.
They have added a tag bearing “the mark” on the side of each top so customers can be re-assured that the cotton farmers used have enjoyed the benefits of Fairtrade.
Epona helped to convert two villages with 150 farmers to Fairtrade and Organic ‘in conversion’ in Andhra Pradesh, India and has been buying all cotton from them since 2007.

Epona is also committed to non-exploitation of those involved in the production process.
Social audits are regularly carried out on their factories, that comply with the ‘Joint Initiative’ criteria.
