Simply Gentle Organic is the first organic cotton wool produced by a UK company. Approximately 5% of the product purchase price will be used to help smallholding farmers in Tanzania, East Africa, the source of the organic cotton. Instead of using toxic chemicals to control pests, they use natural methods. For example, planting sunflowers near the cotton crop attracts up to ten times more pest-eating ants than would be found on a conventional plot.
A fair economic deal is given to the family of the cotton farmers, protecting them from the health risks of artificial chemicals and helping to stop the pollution of rivers and degradation of land through over intensive cultivation. Every product sold will also provide extra money for the local villagers. For example £1000 will pay for the roof for two new school classrooms or sponsor a teacher for a year.
So at the end of a long day, whilst you are busy removing the remnants of your day from your face, at least you will be able to sleep better at night knowing that by such a simple action you are making a big difference in someone else´s life.
