Best Engine for the World!

The Volkswagen 1.4 litre TSI engine has been named as the winner of the Best Green Engine 2009 and the overall winner of the 2009 International Engine of Year award.

The 11th annual International Engine of the Year awards ceremony was held at the 2009 Engine Expo in Stuttgart, Germany. The awards are adjudicated by a panel of 65 automotive journalists from all over the world. The engine, which is used here in South Africa in the New Golf, Tiguan and Scirocco, was also bestowed with the awards for the ‘Green Engine of the Year‘ and ‘Best Engine in the category of 1.0 litre to 1.4 litre’. For the latter award, it was for the fourth consecutive year that the Volkswagen 1.4 litre TSI engine was acknowledged.

The TSI engines are charged by both turbocharger and supercharger and they have been designed on the premise of maximum dynamics with minimum fuel consumption. Judges commended the TSI engine for its outstanding performance and low consumption and emissions.
