Spooning the Yogurt

Yoghurt lid becomes the spoon

When you’re on your lunch run and grab packaged meals such as a salad or yoghurt, it’s often not possible to eat without cutlery and you’re therefore forced to grab an eating utensil as well. And if you haven’t got your re-usable stainless steel cutlery handy then it more than likely means you have to grab a plastic spoon from the counter to avoid pouring the yoghurt into your mouth.

But one designer has come up with an eco-savvy solution – the Yogurt Spoon Package Design – designed by Cho Hye-seung. The top seal of the cup comes off, you fold it into shape, and it becomes the spoon. It’s an inventive way to make packaging more useful and minimise how much plastic is used during to-go lunches.

One problem we have with this design is that because one requires the lid to become the spoon, the lid is wrapped in a whole extra layer of plastic which kind of defeats the plastic waste minimising effect.

But we like that designers are thinking green when creating new packaging ideas.
