Beat the winter blues with a trip to the spa

Last Friday I was lucky enough to be treated to a morning at the Librisa Spa at The Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town, thanks to Africology who offer various winter treatments at the spa. The spa is nestled next to the pool in the hotel gardens. It was an unseasonably warm day in Cape Town and I must say, the pool looked very inviting! As you walk into the spa reception area, you instantly feel the stress melting away from your body and switch into relaxation mode. The spa is housed in an old colonial house with spacious rooms and high ceilings but with a modern touch.

I was there for the Africology Energy Massage which is a holistic spa experience focusing on balancing body, mind and spirit. It´s a combination of hot stone and swedish massage. A blend of black pepper, and rosemary essential oils blended with shea butter is applied to the body using long, rhythmical strokes. Working intuitively with your body, your therapist incorporates the beauty and wisdom of natural colour crystals, which are known to balance and energise the energy centres of the body, a very healing experience.

The massage ended with a hot towel being placed over your feet and another one over your back and torso, the perfect end to a truly invigorating, holistic experience. I would definitely recommend this massage as the perfect answer to beating the winter blues.

Thanks Africology!
