There´s blossoms on the trees, and our gloomy though snug wardrobes are looking a little tired. The solution? Translate your green philosophy into clothes that make you feel good and are kind to the environment. It time to go eco DIY ladies!
Upscaling is the new black, and while there are a million ways to customise your wardrobe, we have selected two eco chic ideas which will make use of clothes probably forgotten at the back of your wardrobe.
The first is easy, take the clothes you are bored of but like the fit of and accessorise. Buy a bunch of buttons, ribbon and any other quirky detail that inspires you, and spend an afternoon drinking organic bubbly and making your wardrobe eco fabulous!
The second requires a trip to your local hospice or second hand clothing store. Support a local charity, recycle and look grand – triple threat right! Scour the shelves for high detail goods. This season lace is making a comeback, so find some great vintage lace and add it to the bottom of a cardigan or t-shirt. Second hand clothes are also a good way to get some basic but interesting neutrals in stone, khaki or whatever shade makes you feel confident.
Denim is huge and looks to be even more of a staple in the next few months, so unbutton the trench coats and slip into slouchy summery denim. If your tired of their colour, dye or bleach them. If they are looking a little bedraggled, why not cut them off and make some naughty shorts, which have been seen all over the catwalks in the last few months. You can also use their wonderfully strong material to make a bag or purse. There´s no reason to be without denim this season!
Red is also big this season, think poppies and energy. Admittedly some of us may not be able to pull off red, so in our last eco fashion challenge if you can´t do full-scale red, find some other invigorating colour that inspires you and add it somewhere to your wardrobe. Think about channelling the invigorating power of citrus.
If you are feeling very enthusiastic and have some time on your hands go threadbanger.com and find out how to make dresses from t-shirts, or pretty much anything you can imagine. If you are a little uninspired take a peak at junkystylings designs or just take a look around some of our local designers stores. There´s no reason not to look green and gorgeous and save the environment this spring.
