Bush for President…?

Lauren Bush´s – known for her FEED Bags and famous first family – sustainable fashion line, Lauren Pierce – which was launched in 2008, has otherwise flown under the radar.

Bush’s latest collection for her label features two styles: a wrap-around skirt that features draping and a multi-colored, light summer dress. The dress was hand-dyed by women in the Congo as part of a program called Women for Women International. Each piece is made of hemp silk and organic cotton.

“I think it´s really interesting to have a story behind the clothes you wear,” Bush told Vogue.com. “The idea of two styles came about because I want to keep it simple. My motivation is to highlight the talent of these women and of the fabrics. Also each silhouette is suitable for different types of women – I like that idea.”

Bush added that she’s happy to see changing attitudes toward sustainable high-end fashion, and hopes her brand, Lauren Pierce, can keep changing it.

The Atelier spring 2010 collection premiered at Barneys New York in March. Shoppers were invited to choose their own fabric, design, and a one-of-a-kind creation was made just for you.

Finally a Bush we can truly be proud of!
