Livia Firth´s Gown of Many Dresses

Livia Firth stayed true to her eco-fashion pledge at Sunday night’s Oscars, sweeping down the red carpet in a gown of many dresses by London designer Gary Harvey.

Harvey created the upcycled gown out of 11 vintage dresses dating from the same era as The King’s Speech, the film for which Firth’s husband Colin took home Best Actor honours. All 11 dresses came from Greenwich vintage store 360 Degrees Vintage.

The finished product was a blush-toned halter gown featuring a column in the front and a voluminous chiffon skirt in the back.

Every element of the gown, from the double-corset bodice to the zips, was recycled.

“It defies what you normally see on the red carpet,” she told Sky news. “It’s really beautiful—it’s pretty but also has a message.”
