freeRange jewels recently launched their new range Cast in Stone. The concept was launched at the Design Indaba 2011 in Cape Town. The focus of the design brief was the bond between the individual and nature, the emotion it evokes and the way in which humans associate with the basic shapes in nature. River pebbles are the most apparent influence.
I love the references to nature that is carried out throughout this new range (some pieces even evoke imagery of frogs to me!) and the fact that each piece is individually designed, handmade and customisable. The brand also has very strong business ethics which make it a liveeco favourite.
freeRange jewels broke free from complex modern design and fueled this range with the desire to define perfection. With Cast in Stone, freeRange attempted to capture perfection by creating wearable pieces of jewellery that are provocative and makes the wearer want to wrap her fingers around it, like one would do with a pebble.
The design – and manufacturing team collaborated closely on this project. Each ring was meticulously hand carved and received individual care from start to finish. The pieces are punctuated with a 9ct yellow gold nugget either on a curve or along a contour and set with a 0.01ct white diamond. Each ring has its unique design process number laser engraved on the inside.
This collaboration has been a project of deep delight for the freeRange design team. Cast in Stone represents the flawlessness of perfection…which is in the eye of the beholder!
These rings are exclusively available from the freeRange jewels concept store in the Cape Quarter. Must have that!
