Knickers that won´t get you in a knot

The UK´s Whistles, is the latest high street star to step into the eco-fashion arena with a new capsule collection co-designed with ethical clothing label Ciel.

The range of silken camisoles, side-tie knickers and breezy dresses bears feather prints chosen from the Liberty archive. With a turquoise, terracotta and violet colour scheme, these are beach-ready dresses with design longevity.

‘We love the eco design philosophy of Ciel, and when Sarah showed us her incredibly cute knickers in Liberty prints, we decided to work with her and create the perfect high summer beachwear with matching knickers,’ Whistles CEO Jane Shepherdson said in a statement. ‘There is a real ’70s feel to the prints we have chosen, so they fit in to this season’s trends perfectly.’

Ciel founder Sarah Ratty creates lingerie, dresses and separates that are sound from ecological and employment perspectives. Fans include Cate Blanchett, Livia Firth and the V&A—the museum holds one of Ratty’s signature knitwear pices, made of recycled Aran jumpers, in its costume collection.

The first batch of designs is a first installment in what both labels say will be an ongoing relationship. Unfortunately ladies these knickers are currently unavailable in SA. *sigh*
