Let the games begin

This morning marked the beginning of Avant Garde for the 2nd year DAF students. We arrived at 10am with about 30 black bags filled with old clothing for the guys and girls to rummage through. After a brief explanation introduction to the competition it was game on… We dumped all the clothing on the floor and everyone got to pick their materials. I heard a few “hands off my bag” but otherwise the selection phase went down injury free 😉

The designs will appear on the runway at The Green Expo in Cape Town in November. The winning designer stands to win an Eco Drive Citizen watch to the value of R10 000 plus R2 500 worth of product from The Body Shop.

Thanks again to our sponsors as well as all my friends and family for helping collect the used clothing. A big thanks to Sean at U-Turn for donating quite a few bags of old clothes for the project.

Here a a few pics of the Avant Garde students going at it this morning! Enjoy xx
