CT complex awarded 5-star eco-friendly status

Cape Town now has the first five-star green office in Africa.

The Green Building Council of South Africa awarded the multi-million rand Aurecon Complex with the eco-friendly status last Thursday.

The green star certification process evaluates the design and construction of a property.

The council’s Brian Wilkinson said the building is truly unique.

“They are clever about the way they use energy. They can reduce the amount of internal lighting. They are clever about the way they use water, they use rain water. They make extensive use of fresh air when they can,” he said.
