Monday was an eventful day – it was judgement day for our DAF students who participated in Avant Garde.
The judging panel was made up Jackie Burger, editor of ELLE magazine; Stehpanie Wolhuteringges from Pick n Pay, Bianca Fobian MD of DAF and myself. The judges were blown away by the 2nd years designs and thought their attention to detail and design skills were to be commended. I was so impressed by how much research and effort the students had undertaken when it came to “eco-friendly, eco-chic” design. They only used natural dyes and managed to come up with some pretty creative ways of displaying colour in their garments.
All the looks will be showcased at a highly anticipated runway show to be held at The Green Expo at the CTICC, on the 19th November 2011 at 1pm. Tickets to the expo cost R50 and can be bought at the door and this gives you access to the entire expo, all day!
The winner will be announced after the runway show at the Green Expo on the 19th!
