Acquizhen Organic Facial

I´m not normally a big fan of facials as I have very sensitive skin and have had a couple of bad experiences in the past, think tight, inflamed skin rather than a relaxing, nourishing experience.

But I´m happy to say the Acquizhen organic facial at Constantia Uitsig spa is a relaxing, soothing, rejuvenating experience. The weather in Cape Town at the moment is pretty miserable so I wasn´t looking forward to disrobing on this stormy afternoon but I was welcomed into a warm treatment room with the electric blanket firing and was at once ready to relax.

The treatment starts with a hand and foot cleanse with the Acquizhen sunrise soap, followed by the facial. First your face is cleansed with the Refreshening cleanser after which the gentle exfoliating mask is applied for a few minutes while you are treated to a complimentary head massage (amazing!). While the mask was on my skin tingled slightly to begin with but then settled down pretty quickly as I sunk into a meditative state for the duration of the head massage.

After the exfoliating mask has done its job, it is gently removed with the therapists hands, which have been soaked in a basin of warm, grapefruit scented water. The eye & delicate skin serum is then placed gently around the eye area, to counteract signs of aging. The active ingredients in the serum reverse aging by stimulating skin to become firmer. To finish off the nurturing night cream was massaged methodically into my face, neck and shoulders.

I have never had a facial massage before so this was a new experience but one I would definitely do again and highly recommend. I felt relaxed and ready to face the world again after the treatment. The extra massage elements were an unexpected treat after a stressful week of running around and endless meetings. And I have the week off next week so this was a fabulous way to start my mini-break!

The good news is Constantia Uitsig Spa has teamed up with Live Eco to offer this unique winter special for our readers!

So don´t delay and book yourself in for an organic mini-break from the cold weather, your skin will thank you for it, trust me!
