Green Dating Tips

green dating tips

Want to take an eco lady out, but not sure how to impress her? Follow these steps to ensure success when it comes to green dating.

Dine Green

When choosing your eatery, be sure to check that they offer some delicious veggie options.  Great ideas are Muizenberg’s fully vegan Bol’Bolo (try their delicious baked goods) or the delightful vegetarian dishes of Indian restaurant Bukhara in Town. If your date does eat meat, try one of the SASSI approved restaurants like Harbour House in Kalk Bay or Dear Me in Town for locally sourced and free-range.

For something a bit more casual, try the Fairtrade coffees at any W Café or the freshly squeezed juices of Mango Ginger in Obs. Also note that the mayonnaise used at all Kauai stores is vegan-friendly!

Give Green

If you want to present her with a bouquet on the night, look into buying wild flowers that grow in abundance. Otherwise, chocolate is always a winner and there are some awesome raw alternatives available (I suggest Honests truffles). For something a little more impressive, get her a bottle of Fairtrade wine or a pretty little soya candle.

Green Wheels

Want to make a lasting impression? Pick her up on a tandem bike! Unfortunately there seem to be very few places in Cape Town to rent one of these but you can pick them up on Gumtree for a couple of grand.  Trust me, this is a good green investment that will guarantee romance.

Green Talk

Make sure you’re informed on the most current green lifestyle news so that you can help hold your end of the conversation. Remember that eco chicks like men who are open and honest, so don’t be afraid to show your sensitive side. Tip: a good conversation starter is to ask your eco-conscious date about her star sign.
