Esprit Launches Recycled Collection

The collection was created by recycling its own manufacturing fabric into recycled fabric, so as to reduce textile waste, save water and carbon emissions and to promote a more sustainable lifestyle.

Also celebrating Hong Kong’s creativity, the collection was designed for Esprit by The EcoChic Design Award Hong Kong 2012 winner, Wister Tsang.

Tsang is a graduate of Caritas Bianchi College of Careers. He is now a visual merchandiser, having previously worked as a fashion designer and a fashion buyer.

The EcoChic Design Award is a sustainable fashion design competition that educates emerging Hong Kong fashion designers about sustainable design techniques that reduce textile waste while also creating stylish and marketable fashion.

The competition was organised by Redress, a non-governmental organisation with a mission to reduce waste in Asia’s fashion industry.

The recycled collection by Esprit is designed to be kind to the environment.

The recycled T-shirts and denim pieces were created using less water and less electricity, resulting in less greenhouse gases per garment.

The denim fabric consists of 43 per cent recycled cotton, collected and recycled from Esprit’s own manufacturing material.

The T-shirt fabric comprises of 35 per cent recycled cotton, collected and recycled from Esprit’s own T-shirt manufacturing off cuts, with the remaining 65 per cent of the fabric made from recycled polyester.

In striving for sustainability, none of the T-shirt fabrics were re-dyed, so they are blends that reflect the original off cuts, rather than solid single colours.

Esprit’s supply chains were assessed and audited by external third party organisations, including Redress, Control Union and Reset Carbon, to ensure high traceability and sustainability standards were maintained.

The Esprit Recycled Collection with its theme “Perfect Summer” emphasises designs with simple cuts. Not only is it creative and fashionable, it also presents various images for women.

Go for a sexy look with a pair of denim shorts. Showcase your femininity with a long maxi cotton dress.

For colours, you will find everything from pale washed to dark unwashed denim, sunny orange to cool grey for cotton styles.

Embrace a natural and bright summer with Esprit’s Recycled Collection.

The Recycled Collection by Esprit will be available at Esprit Malaysia stores until the end of the month.
