Sometimes beauty trends are predictable, other times (like this season) they are intriguing and different than anything we’ve seen before. Here are a few funky beauty trends to look out for this season!
Opal hair
Opal hair is one of the neatest hair dye trends. It’s the unicorn of dye jobs and it’s basically the result of mixing a gray-ish hair colour with colours that you would associate with mermaids such as pearl, pink, blue and light green. In order to perfect this look, you would need to lighten your hair to a pearl hue (just before you start moving into the actual gray colour palette). After this, toner is added, following different layers of colours that give you the hints of greens, purples, blues and pinks.
Heavier and darker eyebrows
It’s time to stop over plucking because dark, heavy eyebrows are trendier than ever. Cara Delevigne’s brows are a great example of what needs to be achieved if you’re interested in following this trend. You can draw even more attention to your brows with heavy eye makeup and by keeping your lips a natural shade of pink or nude.
Hold the eyeliner on the bottom lid
One of the popular trends at New York Fashion Week was to use liquid eyeliner on the top lids (particularly the flicked, winged line) but not use any eyeliner on the bottom lid. This draws a lot of attention to the curve of your eye and the wing (depending on the length of the wing that you have drawn on your eyelid) and is best worn at night.
Deep berry lipsticks
Lip stains in deep berry colours, oranges and reds are very popular this summer.
Browns are back
This season will see glittery, mermaid eyeshadows replaced with cool shades of taupe, chocolatey bronze and coppers. Brown is definitely back this summer!
Barely there makeup
Believe it or not, but “no makeup” makeup is actually a hit this season. Marc Jacobs, for example, showcased models wearing no foundation or Mascara – nothing! Jason Wu and Tory Burch, also popular designers, had models wearing a tiny amount of lipstick and blush for a “barely there” look.
