Zady Launches Private Label Eco-Clothing for Men

Ethical e-tailer Zady has launched its first private-label clothing items for men. Featuring an alpaca sweater and an organic-cotton button-down shirt, both of which come in your choice of white or navy, the inaugural collection hews to the same standard of supply-chain transparency as the products that preceded it. Each garment is designed for the long haul, the firm says. The sweater, composed of Andean alpaca that was washed, combed, and spun in a solar-powered facility in Arequipa, Peru, before it was knit in New York, includes a contrasting elbow patch—a “subtle nod to the days when the longevity of sweaters was admired, since this one too will endure,” wrote Zady on its website.

And while the shirt is a staple, Zady calls its interpretation “far from basic.”

Tailored in New York City from long-staple organic cotton grown near Turkey’s Aegean Sea—”where the climate has nurtured the highest quality cotton since ancient times”—the shirt offers a contemporary slim fit, side gussets, flat felled seams, and Italian mother-of-pearl buttons made from waste from the shellfish industry.

“Our button-down defines sustainable sartorial style,” Zady said.
