Meet Lara Hooper, Remake Design Challenge OBJECT finalist, who is in her 1st year at Design Time. Find out what inspired this “fashion obsessed” designer’s kitchen storage range.

One thing we need to know about you as a designer?

I’m obsessed with fashion.

I can’t start my day without…

A cup of tea & rusk in bed.

You are currently obsessed with?

The Colour Navy and Ritter Sport Peppermint chocolate.

Name one designer you would most like to meet?

Sorry I have two! Philippe Starck and Coco Chanel.

My own style is…

Eclectic – a mix match that somehow fits together.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Find your passion and live it! Be kind, work hard, stay humble, smile often, stay loyal, keep honest, travel when possible, never stop learning, be thankful always and love!

Tell us a little more about your ’KITCHEN STORAGE’ collection. What inspired you?

Grocery shopping and leaving my shopping in the car for a while before heading home with warm milk and melted ice-cream.

What challenges have you experienced by adhering to the competition principles of using sustainable design techniques?

Designing 3 products to complete a range.

What’s on your horizon?

Making beautiful things, getting enough sleep and London baby, yeah!

What excites you?

Bush Holidays. Cape Town. Spending time with my Family. Success. Receiving Flowers and Chocolate never gets stale.

How do your friends describe you?

(Had to ask them…) Thrill seeking, Fun Loving, Positive, Ambitious, Spirited, FOMO Sufferer and Very Honest.

What is your most treasured piece in your home?

My Frenchbulldog, Indie.

Top tip when it comes to sustainable design?

Keeping it simple is usually best.
