KimaKai Skin & Body Wellness

I recently got to try out KimaKai Skin & Body Wellness in Cape Town. KimaKai is a new venture, founded by the lovely Anna Maroudas Viljoen. With many years of experience in the beauty scene locally and abroad, Anna chose to apply her skills of the trade and open up her own treatment centre late last year.

KimaKai is a small, tranquil space with loads of natural light. Although it is situated on Gabriel Road in Plumstead, quite a busy stretch of road, once through the gate you are transported to a chilled, stress-free environment. I loved the decor and Anna is a breath of fresh air when compared to the generic treatment therapists one often meets in the mainstream spas.

After filling out all my details, current stress levels and what I would like to improve on with my current skincare routine, I was led to a small, vibrant treatment room. I signed up for the KimaKai Signature Body Massage. While I waited for the massage to begin I lay, covered in a sarong, in the dark and let my current worries start to float away. The KimaKai signature body massage is a fusion of music and various massage techniques, designed for ultimate relaxation and is inspired from around the globe. Expect a bit of swedish, deep tissue massage mixed in with traditional Hawaiian massage techniques.

It´s quite different to any massage I have had before with the focus more on relaxation than really working out the knots in your muscles. I really enjoyed the music element and the added stretches at the end in order to wake your body up again in a gentle way. Anna uses massage oils from SOiL so you can rest assured that only the best organic ingredients are used.

I would definitely go again and would also like to give the skin reading a go to find out which treatment works best for your skin.

KimaKai Signature Body Massage – R420 for 60 mins.
