Already renowned for its world-class sushi, Rock Sushi Thai Restaurant has partnered with Fairtrade and the newly launched De Bos range of Fairtrade certified wines to offer patrons two tantalising promotions from Friday 5th April until Monday 25 May 2013 at the Meadowridge and Newlands restaurants in Cape Town.

The promotion includes a 14-piece sushi platter with either a bottle or 2 glasses of delicious Fairtrade De Bos wines:

  • 2 Salmon Roses, 2 Prawn Nigiri, 4 Salmon Avo Top, 6 Avo Maki + a bottle of De Bos Sauvignon Blanc or Chenin Blanc for R195
  • 2 Salmon Roses, 2 Prawn Nigiri, 4 Salmon Avo Top, 6 Avo Maki + 2 glasses of De Bos S/Blanc or Chenin Blanc for R179

Whilst enjoying the wonderful wine and sushi, and with the aid of a funky cube each De Bos wine wears around its neck, the waitrons will be introducing patrons to Fairtrade via a brand new smartphone app called eLabel. Using the eLabel app, Rock Sushi Thai patrons can scan the actual barcode of the De Bos wine to find out what it really means to be Fairtrade, as well as win on-the-spot prizes.

De Bos promotional wines include the Chenin Blanc 2012, the Sauvignon Blanc 2012 and the Cabernet Sauvignon 2011. The range is produced by the prestigious Bosman Family Vineyards in Wellington, and its quality is the “long-term result of constructive social and environmental investment, as put by Petrus Bosman, Managing Director of Bosman Family Vineyards.

The entire De Bos wine range is Fairtrade certified. Wine is one of the fastest growing Fairtrade product categories in South Africa. This promotion is a fantastic example of how restaurants, using eLabel, can easily include Fairtrade in promotions and contribute to making the wine industry more equitable and sustainable.

“We are very excited to partner with eLabel and De Bos for this promotion and to be setting an example for the local restaurant industry. It is a privilege to serve high quality wines that are produced ethically and sustainably, says Marcus Schutz, Manager of Rock Sushi Thai Restaurants.
