Marks & Spencer is rolling out the green carpet for Livia Firth, staunch promoter of sustainable fashion. Together with her Eco-Age, her ethical-brand consultancy, Firth has pieced together a capsule wardrobe, derived from the British department store’s autumn collection, to “meet the working woman’s needs,” according to Marks & Spencer.

Marks & Spencer Debuts First Line of Sustainable Footwear

“Footglove Earth,” is the first line of sustainable footwear from Marks & Spencer. Part of the British department store’s so-called “Plan A” environmental strategy, the shoes comprise a variety of post-consumer waste, such as coffee grounds in the fabric lining, rice husk–blended natural rubber for the soles, plastic bottles for internal reinforcements, and recycled foam for padded comfort.

Following the launch six weeks ago in a clothed street in East London, Marks & Spencer (M&S) has announced the first results of its revolutionary clothes recycling initiative, Shwopping. Half a million used and unwanted items have been shwopped – the equivalent of eight items a minute. Every single one has been donated to Oxfam for re-sale, re-use or recycling.
