But the good news is we’ve found some great indoor markets for you to enjoy this winter, so bundle up the kids and head out to some of SA’s top organic destinations to sample delicious food, pick up stunning products and stock up on all things organic.
Earth Fair
If you’ve been searching for a place to pick up quality organic produce Earth Fair in Tokai, Cape Town, is the place to visit. Not only is there an amazing variety of organic fare from meat and fish to fresh veg and sweet treats, but the Wednesday night markets provide the perfect opportunity for you and the family to enjoy a night out together and indulge in some thirst quenching local beer and a wholesome meal. Kwalapa Organic Wholefoods Store
The Xhosa translation is “local” and that is what Kwalapa is all about – bringing you the best in local organic produce in order to lower South Africa’s carbon footprint. Based in the leafy suburb of Newlands, Cape Town, Kwalapa offers more than just great food, it offers an incredible experience. Every Wednesday the deli hosts a raw feast offering visitors a taste of the raw food lifestyle with unbelievably tasty dishes prepared by proprietor Emily Moya. For those bookworms out there, Kwalapa’s Eco-Pod is a fantastic place to read up on all things environmental and organic. If you’re looking for gorgeous eco-conscious fashion, the Hearth Fair in Stellenbosch’s Fresh Goods Market is a shopping haven. The fair showcases products from local artists, crafters and emerging designers and is conveniently set up in both an indoors and outdoors country setting. Open every first Saturday of the month, the Hearth Fair is a good place to visit to pick up some bargains and support our local talent.
The Willowbridge Slow Market
Cape Town foodies looking to develop a taste for the organic lifestyle should check out the Willowbridge Slow Market in Tyger Valley’s Willowbridge Lifestyle Centre. The market is open every Saturday from 9am – 2pm and is a food lover’s heaven!
