The Bay Harbour Market in Hout Bay is an eclectic mix of arts, crafts and delicious homemade food. It´s situated on the water´s edge in the old authentic part of the Hout Bay harbour and comprises of more than 100 stalls in an old fish factory.
There is an awesome vibe, live music and other entertainment is part of the regular routine. What I love about this market is that it is, of all the markets I have been to, a distinctly South African market that encompasses the spirit, creativity and vibrancy that we as South Africans possess.
The market gets extremely busy so I would advise setting out early. We went on a Sunday afternoon at about 12:30pm and there was just about no seating space available in the food court area. The Bay Harbour is also child-friendly and there is a dedicated section for children.
There is lots of parking in the surrounding area so go and eat, drink and shop while your cars remain safe under the watchful eye of the local parking marshals. The Bay harbour is part of a Hangberg Social Upliftment Project.
Trading times: Fridays 5pm – 9pm; Saturdays & Sundays 9:30am – 4pm.
