Gucci have become the latest brand to design an eco-friendly shoe line as part of their pre-fall 2012 collection. Following in the footsteps of the likes of Stella McCartney, the new shoe collection designed by creative director Frida Giannini will use biodegradable plastic instead of leather or suede to create chic, guilt-free footwear. The project is part of Gucci´s ongoing commitment to the Copenhagen Fashion Summit, the world´s most important conference on sustainability and fashion.
The new range, wittily dubbed Sustainable Soles, only includes two styles at the moment – one for men and one for women – but rest assured that there’s a colour selection to choose from! The Marola Green ballerina flats come in blush, taupe and black and feature the GG motif and cute cutout detail, while the men’s California Green sneakers are either low or hi-top with biologically certified strings and rhodum-plated metal details.
Want to go green? You’ll only have to wait until the end of June for the pre-fall 2012 collection to hit Gucci stores and online.
