Recommerce Boutiques: The Next Wave of Resale Shopping

recommerce boutiques

Threadflip and Twice are recommerce boutiques that allow women an online space to clean out their closest and then sell their unwanted items to the etailers who then go on to resell the items on their online shops for a major discount.

Twice was founded by Noah Ready-Campbell and Calvin Young who met each other while working at Google. So how does it work? Twice provides you with a free shipping label or you can even request that a box for your unwanted items get sent to you for you to pack your items into. Once received, you clean out your closet and then ship the unwanted items to Twice who then pay you upfront for the clothes. “We take the very best stuff we receive, ensure it’s in excellent condition, and sell it for up to 90% off retail. Our top brands are labels like J.Crew,AnthropologieAnn Taylor, and more, ” says the Twice website.

Threadflip is a social marketplace for buying, selling, and discovering new, unique, and pre-loved fashion. With a few clicks, users can upload images of pieces straight from their closet, and sell clothing, shoes, bags, and jewelry they no longer wear, creating a treasure trove of thousands of new pieces every day. Threadflip is also launching a special white glove concierge service, which allows women to receive a box to send in their unused and pre-loved items and Threadflip takes care of the rest.

What a great concept and just think of how many landfills are being freed up by these “recommerce boutiques”. It also gives women who just can’t bare to throw out those beloved keepsakes, that didn’t really ever fit, just because it reminds them of a magical moment in time; a chance to find these special, no longer used items, a loving home with a new owner who promises to love them just as much, if not more as they will actually be worn. The best part, you have access to high profile brands at low prices thereby making designer labels more accessible while at the same time recycling your wardrobe.
