Tell us a bit more about your “URBAN LUXE” collection. What inspired you?

My collection is the perfect mixture of my favourite styles and details. It is simplistic and elegant. I was inspired by the modern business women on her day off. The key elements of my collection are pleats and the boat neck line.

If you had to match a song to your collection, what would it be and why?

Islands – The XX. It suits my very chilled collection.

What challenges have you experienced by adhering to the competition principles of using sustainable design techniques?

At first I had no idea what I would use to be sustainable. After researching the many ways to be sustainable I chose to use organic hemp and cotton. I found that these fabrics are not widely available. I love using busy patterns and bright colours in my work, the lack of choice and availability challenged me.

What does sustainable fashion mean to you?

I think it is important to make the concept of sustainable fashion known. Sustainable fashion should be available everywhere.

I can’t start my day without…

Planning it and making list of what needs to be done.

You are currently obsessed with?

Experiencing all the markets and beautiful restaurants/coffee shops Cape Town has to offer. Other than that- getting my work done.

3 things we don’t know about you…

I love my dogs – Bueno, Cassy and Pembie.
If I had to pursue a career in something other than fashion, I would be a baker.
I try to do everything right the first time, no wasting time.

What’s on your horizon?

When I’m done with my studies I want to be the best fashion buyer ever!

What is your most treasured piece in your wardrobe?

One of my mom’s jerseys, it has a little sheep on it.

Top tip when it comes to sustainable design…

Research what you have to work with, from there create as little waste as possible. I think using vintage/secondhand clothing as a base is a great idea.

The Remake Design Challenge is proudly brought to you by Pick n Pay in partnership with The Cape Town Fashion Council.
