Avant Garde object: The Brief

Avant Garde object is a Live Eco design initiative brought to you by Pick n Pay. The idea behind the competition is to inspire young designers to think more sustainably & holistically when it comes to their creations.

Avant Garde object requires Cape Town’s Design Time students to create an eco chic utility object for a living room setting, under the Live Eco umbrella term “Trending Lightly”. We have limited the materials the students can use for this project. They will only be using woods from a sustainable source, used paper or card and used plastics.

Heath Nash , a local designer who upcycles trash into beautiful objects, will be joining us on the Avant Garde object judging panel.

Objects will be on display at a 3-day exhibition at The Green Expo @ CTICC from 23 – 25 November 2012, where the winner will be announced. Prizes sponsored by Nokia, Vida e Caffe, Old Mac Daddy Luxury Trailer Park and W.O.W spa.

Vote for your favorite designer and stand a chance of winning an Energizer Solar Light. More details to follow.

We’ll be updating the site every Monday with the designers progress so keep it locked on Avant Garde object on Live Eco to see how your favourite designer is doing.
